In his speech, Kaylye Chan thanked all guests for their presence and expressed special gratitude to the two Organising Chairmen – Veronica Tang and Dr. Jason Hee – for their full commitment, which had enabled the project to progress efficiently.
She particularly highlighted Veronica Tang’s extensive experience in global business and capital markets, noting that she had proposed holding a special “Digital & Cultural Tourism Business Exchange” alongside MITTE to create a cross‑sector collaboration platform for leaders in the digital economy, cultural tourism and investment. “MITTE is not just a traditional textile exhibition,” said Chan. “It is a comprehensive platform integrating textiles, fashion, manufacturing, culture, tourism and international trade. We look forward to connecting Malaysian businesses with global buyers, investors, manufacturers and tourism partners to create tangible cooperation opportunities.” She also introduced Steven Chen as the co‑organiser from China, who will bring in rich international resources and promote deeper China‑Malaysia collaboration in textiles and cultural tourism.
Organising Chairman Dr. Jason Hee (Founder and President of the Malaysia Fashion, Modelling and Pageant Association – MFMPA) and Organising Chairman Veronica Tang (Founder and Group CEO of Big Orange Media Group, HFU Capital Group and VC International (China) Club) then delivered their opening remarks.
As the key speaker, Veronica Tang elaborated on the vision and mission of MITTE 2026. She emphasised that the expo would be more than an exhibition – it would serve as a catalyst for international business matching, cultural exchange and investment cooperation. “Our goal is to build a solid bridge to bring more international business partners into Malaysia as exhibitors during the three‑day event, jointly promoting the growth of Malaysia’s digital, cultural and textile industries,” said Tang. “At the same time, we are committed to helping international partners find local landing opportunities in Malaysia, so that they can draw inspiration here and eventually take back the unique cultural and commercial values of Malaysia to their own countries.”
Unprecedented Government Support – Three VIP Speeches Reflect National Importance
Three government and agency representatives delivered VIP speeches at the press conference, demonstrating the Malaysian government’s strong recognition and support for MITTE 2026. The first speech was given by En. Khairul Hafizi Bin Naharuddin, Senior Director of Perbadanan Kemajuan Kraftangan Malaysia, followed by Pn. Hisham Suhaily Binti Othman, Board of Director of MARA Incorporated Sdn Bhd, who shared her insights on the textile and cultural tourism industries.
Pn.
In her address, Pn. Hisham pointed out that the modern textile industry is no longer confined to fabrics and garments, but is deeply integrated with design, manufacturing, technology, digitalisation, sustainability, branding, e‑commerce, logistics, tourism, culture and investment. She stressed that MITTE should be seen not merely as an exhibition, but as a comprehensive platform where ideas meet opportunities, manufacturers meet buyers, entrepreneurs meet investors, and Malaysian brands connect with international markets.
She further urged Malaysian enterprises to actively shift from a “production‑oriented” approach to “value creation” – developing their own brands and design capabilities, with the ambition of moving from simply being “Made in Malaysia” to being “Valued by the World.” She particularly noted that many local SMEs have excellent products but lack access to international buyers and partners, and that MITTE’s business matching services provide a crucial bridge to fill this gap – one meeting could open a new market, and potentially transform the future of a business.
Datuk Rashidi Hasbullah, former Secretary General of the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture Malaysia (MOTAC) and current Chairman of MFMPA, delivered the closing VIP speech. He highly commended MITTE as a national‑level expo that plays a significant role in advancing Malaysia’s creative economy and international cooperation.
