UP Your IQ

You are capable.  Better, in fact, than most of your peers.  But somehow, people just don’t notice that.  You ask, “Am I doing something wrong?”  I ask, “Are you dressed right?”

In this competitive age where we are bombarded with information overflow,we have learned to rely on our five senses to quickly filter the weak links among our available options, to help us make our decisions more efficiently.  Among these five senses, we rely on our visual senses the most.

If not, why do we have the term, “我看错了”?

It is undeniable that our image speaks a lot of us.  It is thus essential that we look right to win opportunities in our careers, in our businesses, in our lives.

While not the sole factor in determining your success, dressing right opens doors.  Before we even speak, we are judged by the way we dress and the way we carry ourselves.  If the first impression is not right, we would have lost half the battle.

“Dressing right opens doors.”

Dressing Right
Gentlemen, are you aware of the proper fitting for your business shirt?  Or the length of your tie?  Or what the colors and patterns you put on say about you?

Ladies, are you aware of the proper fitting of your blouse?  Or the proper length for your skirt?  Or if your dressing shows that you mean business?

Many of us are deterred by the misperception that dressing right is very complicated.  The truth can’t be further than that.

Dressing right is aboutthe right fit.  Fitting clothes speak of steadiness, reliability, effectiveness; while loose clothes speak of a laidback, less serious, more comfortable presence.

Dressing right is about the right colors.  Red conveys an image of passion, of drive; blue conveys an image of professionalism; while purple speaks of elegance, of pride.

Dressing right is about the right patterns.  Checkered patterns show a systematic character, while polka dots show a bubbly personality.

Dressing right is about putting all those together, and making sure it fits into the situation.  Different industries and scenarios call for a different dressing language.  It is very unsettling to see an investment banker in a polo-T and hipster jeans, yet it is unreasonable to expect a manufacturing sector operations manager to sacrifice efficiency and safety and walk around in a full suit.

During the well received “Up Your IQ (Image Quotient)”, currently in its 7th season, participants learn about the 3 body shapes of men and 6 body shapes of women and the right cuts and style for the different body shapes, the language of colors and patterns and how they influence moods, and powerful tips to get you connected in business and life.  “Up Your IQ” is an effective two-day course that teaches the tricks of shopping on a shoestring budget.
